ENCOUNTER explores the curiosity, fear and mistrust that is so common when faced with something (or someone) unfamiliar, and the constant shift between resistance and acceptance, to finally arrive at a place of humility and mutual understanding. The video is in two parts, and originally screened as part of a commissioned piece for dance, video and string quartet in five sections to music by Magnar Åm.
Created in collaboration with video artist Run Shayo and performer Tori Sparks, commissioned by composer Magnar Åm, and performed live with Ålesund String Quartet in Volda and Voldsdalen (Norway) in November 2010.
